KHA Established
The Kenya Haemophilia Association (KHA) was established in Nairobi in 1979, with a vision of achieving the highest standard of care for individuals affected by haemophilia and other bleeding disorders across Kenya. For over four decades, we have been committed to improving the quality of life for patients and their families by providing access to essential resources and services.

Recognized as a National Member Organisation
In 1992, our dedication and commitment were formally recognized when we were granted National Member Organisation (NMO) status by the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH). As the official Kenyan patient organization affiliated with the WFH, KHA is entrusted with representing the rights and interests of all patients living with haemophilia and allied bleeding disorders in Kenya. This status underscores our responsibility to advocate for improved access to care, treatment, and support services for our community.
Opened a Haemophilia treatment centre in Kisii County
KHA inaugurated a Hemophilia treatment center at Kisii County Referal Hospital, extending comprehensive care services to individuals with haemophilia in Kisii County and its environs. By establishing this center, KHA aims to address the longstanding accessibility challenges faced by patients in the region, ensuring they have convenient access to specialized treatment and support closer to home.

Launched the KHA Mobile APP
In 2022, the Kenya Haemophilia Association introduced a mobile application for patient identification, aligning with their involvement in the WFH Path to Access to Care and Treatment (PACT) Program. This 5-year initiative aims to enhance outreach, facilitate diagnosis, and expand sustainable care access for individuals with inherited bleeding disorders.
Launched a training curriculum
In partnership with the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation, KHA developed and launched the Haemophilia Foundation Curriculum for Haemophilia, Allied Bleeding Disorders and Sickle Cell Disease Management Course. This innovative curriculum represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to address the educational needs and challenges in the management of haemophilia, allied bleeding disorders, and sickle cell disease.
